Grand Canyon Lodging
|
The Grand Canyon is a spectacular natural wonder located in Arizona. Most of the canyon is within the limits of the Grand Canyon National Park. If you are planning a vacation to this park it is important to reserve your accommodations as far in advance as possible. When it comes to peak tourism season, the Grand Canyon is busy all year round. The summer months are the busiest because that is when many people schedule their vacation time. It's recommended that you book your Grand Canyon lodging six months or longer in advance if possible.

Lodging at the Grand Canyon
The best places to stay are the lodges located within the park. There are a variety of choices that range from affordable to expensive. Yavapai Lodge is an economical choice for families seeking a nice place to stay that's not too costly. The rooms are similar to the average motel and offer double beds, television and bathroom. This lodge is a bit far from the Rim area therefore you may want to use the shuttle to get to where you're going. Another family oriented place to stay would be the Kachina Lodge or attached Thunderbird Lodge. These two buildings are conveniently located near the center of the action and offer modern rooms with air conditioning.
A step up in quality and price is the Bright Angel Lodge pictured above. This building is historic as it was constructed in the 1930s. You get a Western ambience and a location that is mere feet away from the Rim area of the Grand Canyon. This may not be the best choice for families with small children but ideal for those who want to stay close to the canyon. One of the most expensive places to stay is the El Tovar Lodge. This lodge provides amazing views of the Grand Canyon as it is located smack dab on the Rim. This building was constructed in 1905 and is a great choice for those interested in historical architecture.
No matter which Grand Canyon lodging you choose you will definitely be blown away by the canyon itself. The Grand Canyon is one of the world's most popular tourist attractions because of its incredible majesty and beauty. It is a natural work of art that took millions of years to create. The very history of our Earth is told by the layers of sedimentary rock unearthed by the Colorado River. It's no wonder that the ancient Pueblo tribe made pilgrimages to the canyon and considered it a spiritual mecca.
